Exciting news broke on February 29, 2024, as reports surfaced that BTS stars Jungkook, Taehyung, Jimin, and Namjoon had been promoted to Private First Class in the military. The revelation, shared by user X user, quickly captured the attention of the online community. Following their enlistment in December 2023, the four BTS members underwent basic military training and were subsequently assigned to different units.
Namjoon, known as RM, and Taehyung completed their training on January 16, 2024, achieving the status of Elite Soldiers before being stationed at the 15th Infantry Division and 2nd Military Corps, respectively. Meanwhile, Jungkook and Jimin were assigned to the 5th Infantry Division, where fellow BTS member Jin has been serving since December 2022.
Supportive fans flooded social media platforms with congratulatory messages for the four BTS idols.
By December 2023, all seven members of the popular group BTS had officially commenced their mandatory military service in South Korea. Following nearly three months of service, the quartet will now receive a well-deserved promotion to Private First Class from their initial rank as Privates.
In the Republic of Korea Army Force (ROKAF), the title of "Ildeungbyeong" (1st class private) is typically granted to recruits within their first year of service upon a special recommendation from their superiors.
The highly-anticipated promotion ceremony was scheduled for March 1, 2024, coinciding with Namjoon and Taehyung's graduation as Elite Soldiers. Jimin, after completing his basic training and receiving accolades from his unit's commander on January 18, 2024, was recognized as the top trainee and presented with the prestigious Honor of Exemplary.
Meanwhile, Jungkook has been impressing his superiors with his exceptional performance during drills at the military camp. Fans couldn't contain their pride upon learning of the rapid advancement of these four beloved idols within just three months of their enlistment.
Following their military service, BTS members Jungkook, Taehyung, Jimin, and Namjoon are expected to be discharged in June 2025, marking their return to group activities."
